Many of the copper alloys have been specifically selected or developed to meet certain requirements. For example, 70/30 and 90/10 copper-nickels were developed by the MoD and are now listed in national and international standards. The requirements for the aluminium bronze specified in Def Stan 02-833 define tight limits on the composition, include impact and ultrasonic testing, and specify heat treatment requirements to enhance corrosion resistance. The copper-nickel-managenese specified in Def Stan-02 835 has been developed to meet high strength, ductility and corrosion resistance requirements for applications in submarines.
